🇷🇺 On June 12, the Russian Embassy in Ethiopia hosted a state reception to mark Russia Day. The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions from CIS countries, BRICS nations, and other friendly states, as well as Russian nationals, representatives of the federal and regional authorities of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), representatives of civil society, political, and business circles, and members of the media. 🎙 H.E. Terekhin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Ethiopia, and Meles Alem, Director General of the Department of Europe and the Americas at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the guests with welcoming remarks. In his welcoming remarks, H.E. Terekhin noted that the partnership between Russia and Ethiopia is reaching a new level: “We see active cooperation in the areas of parliamentary exchanges, diplomatic dialogue, and scientific research. Economically, our ties are flourishing: last year, Ethiopia became our tenth-largest trading partner in Africa. We are also taking significant steps in scientific cooperation, deepening the spiritual and humanitarian ties between our peoples.” The Russian Ambassador also emphasized that Russia firmly upholds the sovereign equality of all states, strictly adheres to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, and steadfastly supports the legitimate interests of the Global South, especially its partners in Africa. 📷🎤 As part of the event’s cultural program, Russian folk dances and songs were performed.
